Biography
Information is from Imdb.com
and the official Daily
Show website.
Stephen
Colbert was born a wide-eyed, innocent young babe who had yet to know
his true destiny as the Colbertic one in good ol' South Carolina, the
Palmetto state, in 1964 (according to IMDB.com). Stephen joined the famed
"Second City" comedy improvisational group in Chicago where
he met the almighty Amy Sedaris and Paul Dinello. After spending several
years at Second City, Colbert and his associates Ms. Sedaris and Mr. Dinello
moved to the Big Apple and along with other fine comedians and developed
"EXIT 57", a sketch comedy series for HBO which lasted for two
seasons in the mid-90s. EXIT 57 received five CableACE nominations for
best writing, performing and comedy series. Groovy, huh?
The
one true god has been a correspondent on The (excellent) Daily Show since
1997. He also collaborated with homies Amy Sedaris and Paul Dinello to
create the hilariously bizarre "Strangers with Candy" in 1999,
which got canceled. Makes sense. I mean, who would expect the average
mainstream American TV viewer to appreciate humor that doesn't involve
male masturbation or talking animal slapstick antics (pictured at right)?
Colbert worked
as a writer and a cast member on "The Dana Carvey Show" in 1996,
which was thrown into the enormous pile of steaming carcasses of deceased
and forgotten TV shows shortly thereafter. He is also doing a voice for
a character on the new cartoon aimed at adults titled "Harvey Birdman,
Attorney at Law", which sounds totally sweet. Too bad I don't get
Cartoon Network ::grumble grumble::
Stephen Colbert
chills at his super-groovy pad in NY, New York with his badass wife as
well as his swingin' son and swanky daughter and baby of unknown gender.
